Bulk Image Resizer

Resize hundreds of images at once to an exact width and height or a ready-made social preset. The Batch Resizer uses high-quality Lanczos resampling for sharp results, and every image is processed locally in your browser, so your files never leave your device.

Resizing hundreds of images without losing what matters

Bulk resizing is the most common image job there is and the one where a default quietly costs the most quality. Two ideas remove nearly all of the disappointment: what happens to the aspect ratio, and what enlarging can and cannot recover.

Aspect ratio is the real decision, not the pixel count. If you set both a width and a height that do not match the source proportions, something has to give: the image is stretched, squashed, or cropped, and none of those is what anyone meant. Setting one dimension and letting the other follow preserves the proportions and is almost always the intent. Mixed batches make this sharper, because a folder containing both portrait and landscape photographs cannot have one fixed pair of dimensions applied sensibly to all of it.

Enlarging does not recover detail. Upscaling interpolates between the pixels that exist, which can look smoother and cannot invent information that was never captured. A 400 pixel thumbnail enlarged to 4000 pixels is a larger thumbnail. This is why the practical advice is always to start from the largest original you have rather than from a copy that has already been reduced.

Repeated resizing compounds the loss. Each pass resamples, and resampling an already-resampled image accumulates softness that no later step removes. Keep the originals and resize from them every time rather than resizing the resized copy, which is the single habit that most improves results over months.

Choosing a target depends entirely on the destination. For the web, width is what matters and most layouts never exceed about 1600 pixels of content width, so anything larger is bytes the visitor downloads and never sees. For print, the physical size and the printer's resolution set the requirement and it is far higher than a screen needs. For an upload limit, reducing dimensions usually saves more than raising compression and costs less visible quality, which is the opposite of what most people try first.

The practical ceiling here is memory rather than a quota. Every image is decoded in your browser tab, so hundreds of full-resolution phone photographs are comfortable on a laptop and can exhaust a low-end phone. If a batch fails, split it in two. That is the trade for not uploading anything, and for bulk work it is a good one: nothing is transmitted, so the slowest part is your own machine rather than your connection.

FAQ

Will resizing reduce image quality?

Downscaling with Lanczos resampling keeps images sharp. Enlarging beyond the original resolution can soften detail, which is normal for any resizer.

Are my images uploaded anywhere?

No. Every image is resized locally in your browser, so your files never leave your device.

How many images can I resize at once?

There is no fixed limit. Because everything runs on your device, the practical ceiling depends on your computer's memory.
